LEDs that dim when the computer is working hard Flicker issue under high load
Good afternoon. I’ve recently switched to an MSI Ventus 2x 3070 and have observed the wall lamps flickering during high system usage. Both use 4W dimmable LEDs (GE Vintage Style bulbs) controlled by a Lutron Credenza LED+ dimmer. My first fix was replacing the bulbs, but that didn’t help. I then checked the wiring, using a different circuit for both lamps, which resolved the problem. Recently, while rendering and gaming simultaneously, the flickering returned. Could this be related to EMI or grounding issues? My PSU is 600W, which should cover the load from the GPU. Any advice would be appreciated. If you think this isn’t the right forum, let me know. The issue began after upgrading my GPU.
It seems the issue persists even after changing the circuit setup. I'm considering moving the power cords farther from other wires, but I don't have a multimeter to verify. It might be the dimmer switch that's causing the problem, especially since I replaced it with an LED version without success.
I'll give it a shot. Something else that came to mind is a Logitech Powerplay wireless charging mat close to the dimmer switch.
I've tried a few adjustments and checked different setups. Moved the dimmer switch and covered it with foil but nothing changed. Disconnected the surge protector and connected the PC directly to the wall, no improvement. Removed the Powerplay charging mat without success. Successfully connected the dimmer or lamps to another circuit. It seems the issue began with the 3070 model. I have a spare PSU and might consider swapping it to see if that resolves the problem.
