LED status light is red.
LED status light is red.
I assembled my PC about a month back. It seems to operate normally, though I saw the VGA status light active. I noticed it last week too. When powering the 3070 with just one cable from the PSU, it worked fine. Added another cable and the light disappeared for a few days, then returned. I’ve confirmed all drivers are current and no updates exist. BIOS is version F23, up to date. Seeking guidance on troubleshooting. Other issues I’ve encountered are with GPUs not displaying, while mine appears to function properly. The system is performing as expected. This is my first build, so any tips would be greatly appreciated. I have an Intel Core i5-12600K 3.7 GHz 10-core processor, Corsair iCUE H100i ELITE CAPELLIX 75 CFM cooler, Gigabyte Z690 UD DDR4 ATX motherboard, Corsair Vengeance RGB Pro 16 GB M.2-2280 PCIe 4.0 NVMe SSD, and GeForce RTX 3070 8 GB graphics card. I’m using Windows 11 Home.
Welcome to the forums! Have you verified the power cables and made sure they’re securely connected? Check both the power supply side and the graphics card end.
I verified every power cable thoroughly. All connections are securely plugged in at both ends.
Have you attempted to reinsert the graphics card or switch to a different slot? The main concern with changing slots is that you might not achieve the full 16-bit bandwidth of the first slot, though for testing it helps determine if the issue lies with the slot or the card.
I'll attempt this next week when I have a break. If I reboot the machine, the light fades until the next restart. I've also seen these GPU temperatures on iCue—do you know if a 11°C difference is typical?
You might need to consult tools like GPU-Z under the sensors section to identify core and hot-spot temperatures, which indicate the highest silicon temperature. It could also be a VRAM temperature sensor; using GPU-Z or HWinfo64 can help locate graphics card sensors. Sometimes, if the computer powers on before the monitor, the VGA light turns on but the system runs normally—restarting will turn it off. I recommend checking this order and seeing if the issue persists across different systems.
It's a key temperature and a hotspot on the GPU-Z. I believe you're correct that turning off the monitor at startup causes the light to activate. I looked in another slot and verified the power cables; it turned on without a red light, even though the monitor was on. I powered off both the system and monitor, restarted them one by one, and the light returned. It's a small oddity, but a simple solution. Thanks!
