Hello, I'm trying to figure out why my mouse's color flickers when there are power changes. It resets briefly during fluctuations but works fine otherwise. If a sudden power cut happens, everything seems normal. There might be an explanation behind this behavior. I have a UPS with surge protection and an extra Belkin surge protector power strip connected to the UPS. The problem started after I installed a new motherboard about a month ago, and the system specs were updated in the signature.
The surge protection seems excessive for most setups since many power supplies include it. Still, all surge devices have a reaction time when a surge hits. High-end models can reduce this delay for industrial use, but it won’t disappear entirely. Completely removing it would require running your computer on a battery and constantly charging it from wall power, which could cost thousands. The tiny surge that bypasses protection should not harm your gear, including your mouse. If it’s impacting your equipment, consider a mid-range surge protector instead of a basic store-bought one. If only your mouse is affected, it might not meet your needs and a replacement could help. I think you’re likely okay unless the brief color change bothers you.
Power surge isn't too serious. It occurs roughly every three days or so. All other components like the keyboard stay fine. I suspect the mouse might be the problem, similar to the previous motherboard that made a clicking noise when the USB disconnected. At this stage, I plan to replace the mouse and see if it works.
