I’ve been enjoying Fallout 76, it’s fun but needs some tweaks. I’m checking if there’s a memory issue when loading—initially runs smoothly but after a while starts to lag and stutter in areas that used to be fast. When I close the game, it takes a long time, like running out of RAM. It uses around 7-8GB of RAM and about 4GB of VRAM. With 4K Ultra settings enabled (4790k, 16GB, 2400MHz), my RTX 2080 AX860 is maximus hero VII, temps are normal, and overheating isn’t a problem.

The engine has consistently performed this way. Even in Fallout 4, the DLCUltraHighResolution textures boost VRAM to around 7.5 and maintain smooth gameplay for under an hour. The same applies with 4K textures in Skyrim. This is why I upgraded from a GTX 1080 to a GTX 1080 Ti—I didn’t require the extra frames on my 3440X1440 60Hz monitor, but modded Bethesda titles needed it for smoother operation.

It really hurts when the powerful RTX 2080 struggles, and even after long gaming sessions, the FPS drops noticeably. The 1080 Ti still lags, especially after hours of play.
