League of Legends World Championship 2015
League of Legends World Championship 2015
As we approach the start of the 2015 League of Legends World Championship in Europe, I’d love to hear your thoughts, expectations, and predictions. I’m just a Diamond player who’s been playing since the first season and have a good grasp of the game. Here are my takeaways for the group standings: What teams do you like the most? Are you planning to watch any matches? Who do you think has the best chance of winning? My guess is SKT T1, though my favorite squad is Elements.
P.S. Let’s all laugh at H2K for missing the group stage before the tournament began—hahaha!
To wrap up, here’s a song with vocals by Nicki Taylor (singer of Here Comes Vi) that serves as the anthem for the 2015 LoL World Championship.
I'm a huge TSM supporter and a big fan of Fnatic due to the CS scene, which influences my views.
T1 seems best positioned, though I hope a Naito, Ongen, or Koo tiger makes it to the final.
I truly hope TSM performs well, yet I doubt it will happen. I believe Zion would shine and Pobelter/xmithie could succeed even with slight advantages from Aphro & Double if they play smartly. I admire CLG and TSM, but I’m not confident TSM will thrive, though I’d like to see them do better. (Actually, I think Loco is a complete failure at pick bans—they keep getting picked and banned, and he doesn’t seem to improve from his mistakes.) I suspect TSM will be the same team we see each year at Worlds; Dyrus often gets left behind while others succeed but struggle to convert. I’m not sure about Chinese teams, but from watching many Chinese matches, some looked inconsistent. As long as FNC doesn’t win, it doesn’t matter who does.
I've been enjoying League of Legends since 2012, even though I'm just a Silver player. I'm hoping SKT T1 will win, but I'm also keeping my fingers crossed for CLG or TSM to claim the title. Cloud 9 performed strongly, pushing Team Liquid out of the Worlds spot, which was a big surprise for me. I was eager to see Piglet return in Worlds, but that didn't come to pass. Combined with Cloud 9's underwhelming play, I've lost all confidence in them at Worlds, so I'm counting on our other two North American teams to secure the championship, even if TSM is struggling.
C9 struggled significantly in those matches, even though they managed to beat the opponents. It seemed like those teams were actually letting themselves down and performing poorly. Thanks to C9 for staying calm and playing smart, but those groups really gave up the fight on their end. The games against Liquid were terrible from Liquid's perspective—I can't even remember how many times Quas tele'd when his team wasn't present.
Chinese teams are performing well, especially EDG, who could pose a threat to SKT T1 soon since they're in the same group. I hope CLG reaches the finals, but I also want to see an underdog like Origen surprise everyone. D5 is currently my team; last season I was D2 and lost interest this year because it felt repetitive. I'm also on EUNE.
I'm also on eune, and I sometimes play with friends just for fun. I usually do 2-3 ranked matches each month to keep things fresh. Lol feels repetitive these days and doesn't motivate me to push harder for rankings. Back then, I played league and other games for 3-4 hours daily, but now I barely play a league match once a week.
