League de course Aurora Chalice
League de course Aurora Chalice
Good morning everyone. Following the announcement of the Race Mode for Arena Commander, I suggest we start a casual race league among our members. Given our global reach and size, offering a free league setup lets everyone join while still maintaining enough structure to showcase our achievements at the end of the season.
WAY TO REPORT A RACE: Visit the "Report a Race" page. Choose your race type—Single Player or Multiplayer—and select your pilot (just correct any errors, and I’ll help fix them). Pick your ship; if you’re unsure about mistakes, feel free to message me with all details for correction. Decide on your track, then input your time (minutes and seconds in separate fields). For example: 10:32.88655—use 10 for minutes and the rest for seconds. State your finishing position (leave it at 1 for single player), and enter laps (default is 3 unless specified). If you need an image or video, that’s welcome but not mandatory. Once done, click "Add Record."
If you skip any steps, I’ll guide you through fixing them. Please note: I can handle errors if you share the info. To avoid spam, just let me know if you’re submitting multiple entries.
For tracking, a website is being built to collect race data. Each participant signs up via a form linked in the document, which will be added to the site for data collection and reporting. Race attendance and details are the racer’s responsibility, entered on the web page with name, time, place, and finishing position. A screenshot of the finish is appreciated but not required.
Once a week, every pilot must race at least three times (to be eligible for class wins). Scores will be tracked weekly, highlighting weekly winners and overall champions.
Scoring system:
- First 6 races: 8 points
- Second 4 races: 4 points
- Third 3 races: 3 points
- Fourth 2 races: 2 points
- Fifth race: 0 points
Bonus points apply for beating average times or reporting fastest times. Top lap averages and overall averages are also tracked. Points accumulate over eight weeks, with weekly summaries. If you participate more often, adjustments will be made.
Feedback is welcome, but changes may occur if others propose better ideas. Signing up is at: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1...sp=sharing

Reminder: Reporting races is important. The launch date is August 28, following the release of Race Mode. This allows time for setup and testing. Please check the site regularly as it’s under active development.
Proposal for a points system: this is a rough proposal written just before I go to bed, so take with the understanding that I will get up and hate it and want to change everything. A pilot will gain Pilot points for position finished in a race, time under the track average, and bonus points for each reported race upto the required number each week. points will not be used to determine winners, but as a tie breaking mechanism. sugestions on other trackable points and possible point values would be welcomed.
After reviewing the Gamescom coverage again, I feel confident about our progress, but I advise against participating in the final races as part of the league, since they could significantly impact your performance. I’m improving the site functionality, simplifying data entry and readability. I’m not focusing on visual elements yet because coding without a clear purpose isn’t ideal. My thoughts on the point system and League segment structure (weeks, months, etc.) are still unclear. I’ve removed days from the schedule because not everyone can commit daily, which is a lot of work. The logic for this will likely be completed before we start the first race section, but I aim to finish it before the release date. I plan to test my changes on the 27th or the day after the update to verify available options for tracks, modes, and ship tracking so reporting can begin promptly. I’ll do my best then and will try again as soon as possible. There’s a chance I might not have time to implement the updates until later that morning on the 28th, depending on the update timing on the 27th.
No worries about rent—it's a supportive league aimed at fostering community action. Join whenever you can.
I really wished my 7970 hadn't given up last week. Just one day my monitor stopped working, and after testing it on four different systems, I declared it dead. Now I'm dealing with no GPU until the 300 series arrives, so I'll be fully prepared for SC and W3 at 1440P.
