I have been forced to prevent the cumulative Windows updates for September (KB5017321) and October (KB5018496) from installing on my AORUS 7 KB laptop. Whenever the system attempts to install these updates, upon restart, after the BIOS screen and the initial Windows loop icon beneath the laptop OEM logo, the screen goes to black afterwards. I can tell that it is still on, as the screen is lit up, but there is no cursor and I cannot interact with the system. It does not make any sound either, so I'm fairly confident that it isn't getting anywhere near completion with the updates. Upon forcing the system to shut down and roll back either update, it boots back up as normal. This system contains both Intel integrated graphics and an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2060. As a test, I connected the system to an external display (which I believe is driven exclusively by the NVIDIA GPU), and the same thing happened there as happened with just the main screen: black with no cursor. Notably, the Intel UHD Graphics driver has indicated that it did not start at around the same time the PC was attempting to perform the post-restart section of the updates. I have attempted to roll back the Intel GPU driver to an earlier build and then update, but that doesn't seem to work either. I am at a loss as to what to try to get the system up to date other than wait for the November patches and hope this issue is resolved then.
