I've never seen this problem before, but after installing the Windows 10 20H2 update, almost everything slows down. It affects opening apps and even accessing the START MENU. My laptop takes about five seconds to launch the start menu or reopen a taskbar app. I'm sharing this to see if anyone can help resolve it, since it's not just annoying but also disrupts my work from home.

I'm using an Acer Predator Helios 300 from 2019. The specs are: CPU – Intel Core i7 9750H, RAM – 16 GB DDR4 2667 MHz, Windows storage – NVME WDC, GPU – Nvidia GeForce GTX 1660Ti.

I recommend reverting to the prior release. I haven’t seen this problem on any of my machines, but 20H2 hasn’t been around that long, so bugs are likely still present. https://www.howtogeek.com/235474/how-to-...indows-10/ EDIT: Also, is this a fairly recent release (like within the past few hours)? Allow some time since WMI and Net runtime optimizations can remain active after updates and may significantly delay the start menu and other applications.

I managed to understand it a few hours back, so I'll hold off until the end of the day before attempting to revert. Appreciate your reply! ^^

Check the task manager; I anticipate seeing Windows Module Installer and/or Net runtime optimization consuming significant CPU and disk resources. With antivirus installed, you may also notice elevated CPU usage during scanning activities.

It's best to wait before making changes, since updates often come on Patch Tuesday and problems can arise. I won't accept any updates until about four weeks after the release. There are reliable resources that monitor Windows updates regularly.
