After assembling the new PC, I’ve observed some unusual behavior in the MSI center. My CPU temperature rises sharply to 80°C+ during startup and then drops to about 35°C afterward without any activity. When launching games, the spike reaches 80°C again, followed by a drop to 55-60°C while playing. Since installing the 1660 processor a few days ago, I’ve experienced higher idle temps (40-55°C) and more erratic spikes up to 80°C. After swapping the graphics card for a 3060 from PNY, I started noticing additional problems: the CPU stays hotter (40-55°C) and experiences random spikes to 80°C. Reverting to the 1660 didn’t fix these issues.
I’ve also faced intermittent problems such as screen tearing during gameplay (with or without VSync), display flickering, brief output cuts, game freezes, and recently, games failing to load altogether, along with system crashes and blue screens.
My troubleshooting steps include: re-seating the heatsink, reapplying thermal paste, confirming fans and pumps are functioning by checking spin rates and vibrations, removing old 1660 drivers and installing the new 3060 drivers from NVIDIA, changing the CPU pump connection from PUMP1 header to CPU_FAN and back, moving AIO fans to a standard SYS_FAN header, updating BIOS, and refreshing MSI chipset drivers.
Potential solutions I’m considering are: clearing the device if needed, using DDU for driver removal, or checking if hardware failure is the cause. I’ve verified CPU temperature issues with MSI Hardware Monitor and HWmonitor.
