That sounds unreasonable, just stocking up and holding off for the upgrade kit. Also, what processor will they deliver? Are they supporting an Athlon B550?

Currently, updates for B450/X470 boards require Athlon 200GE CPUs to refresh the BIOS. B550 motherboards only accept Ryzen 3000 CPUs, leaving the Ryzen 3 3100 as the most affordable option. It’s likely B550/X570 boards made a few months before the Ryzen 4000 release will work with that CPU. When selecting such a board, you won’t know its age on the shelves, so I’ll assume they include an image for the Ryzen 4000 again (but clearly marked).
