Latest mobile device featuring PCI connectivity
I own many PCs equipped with PCI cards. These components are unique and don’t have standard PCI upgrades. I’m looking for a consumer motherboard that supports PCI with the latest chipsets. Would there be any recent consumer boards with PCI that are fully new?
We need additional details about the current generation business boards. It seems many still have PCI slots, which is quite typical. However, we should clarify whether these boards will support them. What PCI cards are present? This helps confirm compatibility with the port. We also require information on the intended use case and budget. Our goal is to identify the most suitable option, as our constraints are mainly related to VRM capabilities rather than legacy hardware limitations.
Thanks for the reply! I only need a standard motherboard with basic USB and NVMe support. PCIe for the GPU is fine. OS is XP, but I think we can upgrade it to 10. (At least 7 I think that's possible) PCI cards could be sensor cards from the endosensors industry or special cameras.
This will be your main challenge, not the PCI slot itself. Even AM5 boards can have a PCI port on them. Windows XP has lacked driver support for at least a decade. I believe Ivy Bridge and FX were the final platforms with native drivers for XP (though I might be mistaken). Anything newer usually needs workarounds if you can manage it. If you decide to use these on a newer system, you’ll probably run into driver problems again because PCI cards rarely get updated support for Windows 7, 10, or 11. It seems these are tools used in professional settings where downtime costs more than inconvenience. You’re aiming for maximum reliability, so if that means using hardware from 2005, that’s likely your best option.
