I own a high-end system but experience frequent lag spikes and slow loading in the latest Minecraft versions (1.16 and above). This mainly occurs during multiplayer sessions, though it can happen occasionally in single-player. Additionally, I’m unsure if this is connected to other factors. When running in a maximized windowed mode, the game caps at around 163 FPS, but in a regular window the cap disappears and performance jumps to nearly 1000 FPS. Your hardware seems capable, as CPU/GPU usage stays below 50% even in maxed settings. You use Lunar Client, but I noticed similar lag issues with the vanilla version. Several adjustments you tried include reinstalling Minecraft, switching from OptiFine to vanilla, prioritizing it in Task Manager, adjusting graphics settings in Windows, and tweaking performance controls in NVIDIA Control Panel. Setting Minecraft’s FPS cap to 50 and allocating up to 12 GB RAM seems promising. If you have any insight into the cause or a solution, please share. It doesn’t appear to be a network problem since it didn’t occur in earlier versions. Your GPU and CPU usage is typically around 20% according to NVIDIA’s performance overlay.

I've picked up quite a bit about Minecraft and Java lately, so I'm here to assist. Both programs are quite RAM-intensive. If you're facing issues with the basic singleplayer experience, boosting your RAM to 12GB might actually worsen the problem. Before making changes, check your RAM usage without enabling the RAM flag. My newest update uses about 2GB in a vanilla world; only mods push it up to such high levels. If RAM isn't the cause, something else is likely faulty—use Task Manager to review all hardware performance. Should no hardware be overperforming, consider removing Minecraft and Java entirely. Don't forget to clear their %appdata% files and delete the Java installation folder at C:\Program Files\Java. Then reinstall vanilla Minecraft from mojang.com, ensuring you link the correct Java version if desired. If you need a specific version or mods, just let me know and I'll guide you through the setup.

Also obtain MalwareBytes from Malwarebytes.com. Execute the complimentary trial (no credit card needed) and examine your system. Malware is the simplest suspect in such cases.

Thanks for reaching out! Your setup sounds similar to what others face with performance issues. The lag spikes might be linked to background processes or resource-heavy applications, even if your Minecraft is running at low CPU/GPU usage. Checking for updates, closing unnecessary programs, and ensuring your system has enough RAM and storage can help. If the problem persists, consider testing on a different machine or adjusting settings further.

Are there any missing 100% components listed? With a 163FPS, you're good. Does Singleplayer operate at a steady 60FPS? Pressing ALT+Z displays the frame rate in the top-right area on Nvidia graphics cards.

It's limited to 163 characters, receives plenty of that, but suffers from lots of stutters and occasionally drops to around 5 frames per second.

You're using the official installer with the recommended Java version from Mojang. Are you also enabling GeForce Experience for better performance?
