BIOS updates are ignored regardless of the operating system version, unless you're using a method that refreshes while Windows is running—typically less dependable and best avoided, particularly on laptops which rarely offer BIOS recovery options. Last time I attempted an update inside Windows, it damaged my motherboard. Before proceeding, ensure you've run Windows Update and enabled all optional upgrades, since the restart might trigger the BIOS update before Windows loads. I performed this on an HP Pavillion; it worked without issues, though the fan ran at full speed because the system couldn't afford any downtime. Maintain power, keep the battery connected, leave the lid open, and protect the device from children during the 5-10 minute process, as touching the power button could cause permanent damage.
