I changed the BIOS on my motherboard, but the CPU keeps getting hot. I’ve tried reverting to older BIOS versions, but the problem continues. I disabled C-State and PBO, reset everything to defaults, yet the issue remains. Oddly enough, putting the PC to sleep and then waking it brings the idle temperature back to normal, as if it never reached 100°C. The CPU doesn’t actually feel warm; it just appears the system thinks it’s overheating. I’ll include my DxDiag file so you can review my specifications. DxDiag.txt
The specifications are important, but the real data comes from performance metrics under stress. Monitoring stats during full load—beyond just gameplay—is essential. Knowing the system's setup, cooling solutions, the specific CPU model, and power consumption during peak usage helps clarify what’s happening.
can’t load it under stress because the machine shuts down once it hits the heat threshold. i can try testing in sleep mode after use, but that’s when the cpy begins functioning properly. i ran some benchmarks on my own system and everything looks fine with the hardware. it just fails to boot without using sleep mode.
The system specifications are listed. It appears there may be a problem with the cooler. Do you prefer an AIO or air cooler? Is high temperature also detected in the BIOS? I recommend removing the GPU and using the CPU's built-in graphics to further test. Occasionally, BIOS updates can affect the motherboard, though this is uncommon.
If it stops because of the temperature cap (we're not entirely sure, but we'll proceed with that idea), then the cooler likely isn't properly secured.
system details are saved in the .txt file unless you mean something different. The high temperatures aren't shown in the BIOS, and they resolve after sleep mode is fixed. All fans are functioning properly, running at full speed and increasing when the issue appears during startup. What cooler are you employing? If BIOS isn't displaying the temperature problem, it's probably not related to the motherboard or CPU. Since it resolves after entering sleep mode, it seems to stem from a Windows issue. A new Windows installation or repair could likely fix it.

the fan works fine and everything looks good on the hardware side. however, the cpu seems unstable without me putting the computer to sleep. the second screenshot shows me playing a game after waking the computer from sleep mode. it might be related to my cbus, and refreshing it could help.
