I encountered an unusual problem with my computer. In numerous games, when I attempt to play them in full screen, the visual quality drops significantly and the display turns yellow. This issue was present back in 2015 with my R9 290, which I thought might be linked to that graphics card (https://forums. After trying to fix it and giving up, I recently received a new graphics card from a friend. Since I play in windowed borderless mode, I didn’t notice any problems initially. However, when I switched to full screen and then launched Overwatch 2, the same issues reappeared. It seems these problems aren’t related to the GPU but could be something else entirely. My monitor is quite old, and according to Windows, it’s running at 59,934Hz. I can adjust the refresh rate to 25-60Hz, but all other settings display the same blurry yellow tint that appears in games. Even changing the GPU settings in Windows doesn’t resolve the issue. Since most games run at 60Hz, this likely explains why it happened before—possibly because the monitor refreshes at 60Hz instead of the higher rate. This might be the reason behind the earlier problems. When I played Overwatch 2, the game stuttered heavily and experienced significant frame drops. I recorded performance data using Nvidia GeForce Experience. Running the game in fullscreen (at around 60Hz) showed poor performance, with render latency reaching up to +2000ms and occasional drastic FPS drops, though sometimes it hovered near 200FPS. Switching to borderless full screen only improved it slightly to 59-60FPS, but render latency remained an issue—still making the game difficult to play. I’m trying to understand why there are such high render latency and frequent FPS drops while playing. I’ve checked my CPU, GPU drivers, and BIOS updates. I have 8GB of RAM, but during gameplay it only uses about 7GB, so I don’t think memory is the problem. My GPU is using around 40% of its VRAM at maximum, and I’ve reduced settings quite a bit already. I’m running an Intel i5 4670k (OC to 4.2GHz) and have managed to play many other games smoothly. Although it’s an older processor, I’m skeptical it’s the cause of these issues. I’d appreciate any suggestions or information you can provide. Thank you in advance, and I’m happy to share more details or logs if needed.

When you receive a GPU from friends, do you delete the existing drivers from other cards and install them for your new GPU? Or should you download the current card drivers from the manufacturer's website? It might also be necessary to purchase a new card instead of using old ones.

I tried DDU before installing the card and after installation too, hoping it would help, but it didn’t work. I already have the latest drivers for my current card from Nvidia. The GTX970 is performing just fine on my friend’s computer, and it works similarly in mine (no differences). A new card might be better, but a GTX970 still handles games well enough, so I don’t think it’s necessary right now (and rebuilding the whole PC seems unlikely).

Yes, the i5-4670K is outdated, with its last support date being 2021. That doesn't mean games won't work.

Do you have or are able to obtain a monitor to check if your issue stems from it? My old Westinghouse 26" shows a green line from top to bottom when the setting is adjusted.

I might attempt to connect the PC to another TV display or check if it can send data to my laptop. I'll let you know if this affects the situation.
