Laser printer
A friend is interested in purchasing a new color ink for their laser printer. They are unfamiliar with the process and are unsure about costs, budget limits, or whether to use genuine toner. They also want an air print compatible model and have some concerns about toner quality. They specifically mentioned looking into the Brother HL-L8360cdw and the HP Laserjet Pro M283fdw.
The amount of toner used influences its duration. Printing a few text pages each month can make the toner last many years.
I own a brother with model MFC-L3770CDW.
It has been almost three years without any issues.
Only OEM toner has been used so far.
Be cautious about the "air print" feature.
If connected directly to the router, it remains reachable from any network, whether Ethernet or WiFi.
The printer does not require its own WiFi connection.
I believed you meant air == wireless.
Not air == Apple.
My error.
No, companies do not usually have many printer deals on Black Friday.
I have the Brother mfc-l3770cdw. I have a question about switching from Wi-Fi to Ethernet. Unless there are any problems, he should stay connected via Wi-Fi. However, when trying to connect through Ethernet, it keeps reconnecting to Wi-Fi. I checked the printer settings and couldn’t find a way to disconnect from Wi-Fi. There’s an option to enable wired LAN but nothing changed. Anyone use the Brother Refresh Toner program? What is its performance like? Would it be better to handle this myself?
I don't worry too much about the auto-refresh toner issue.
2997 pages in roughly 2.5 years.
For the WiFi...in the Windows app, I can't locate any WiFi settings either.
It might be in the settings on the printer itself.
Try using an invalid WiFi access key—it could force it to connect through Ethernet.
Checked the printer's settings and couldn't locate a method for Ethernet connection. Discovered a switch to enable wired mode, which attempted to connect via Ethernet but eventually switched back to Wi-Fi after a short delay. I recall seeing a warning about disabling wired LAN when connecting to Wi-Fi initially. I chose to allow it, assuming there would be an alternative if needed. It seems the setting might not have permanently disabled the wired option. I plan to test with incorrect Wi-Fi credentials to observe the outcome.
