I purchased a laptop because it was damaged at a pawn shop, and they refused to reset it. I thought I could just reinstall Windows, then sell or repurpose it. When I started using it, it booted into a different Windows 11 installation, and I tried reinstalling Windows again. The drive didn’t appear at all. I’m confused but have dealt with similar issues before, so I installed Windows on another machine to see if it would help. Now the laptop doesn’t recognize the drive as a boot device. My guess is that the hardware was somehow affected by the previous Windows setup (which is now lost). I’m wondering if there’s any chance to recover this device or if anyone knows what happened. I’m not too upset since I paid $30 for it and received a 512 GB NVMe SSD plus a 4 GB DDR4 stick, which is worth $30. I’m hoping it might still work with a better CPU than my current laptop.
