I faced some issues with the internet today. I checked both my laptop and desktop speeds using ookla. The laptop showed ping 8, down 17mbps, up 11mbps. The desktop reported ping 14, down 7mbps, up 10mbps. I’m short on time and can’t share more details now. My PC is an Abc250 gaming iMac with a Ryzen 1600 without overclocking, and my Lenovo Yoga 720. It’s confusing how both devices perform similarly even though they’re on the same network, especially since their drives are all up to date. Someone could help me figure this out. Thanks!

This board, and for some reason many Ryzen models come with built-in Wi-Fi cards, rely on Intel's 3168 chip—which is quite subpar.

Could using a USB Ethernet adapter be beneficial for you?

I did that mainly because I had it available. You can swap the card for something else. An AX200 works well and costs similar to a good USB adapter.

Before purchasing a new adapter, verify your connection settings. Opt for 5GHz instead of 2.4GHz, as the latter can become very busy in urban environments, leading to slow speeds (often just about 10Mbps). Also, ensure you have the most recent driver installed.

I used the identical adapter you were employing on the laptop, and the outcomes remain consistent. Are there any further steps you could consider?

I don't have a physical form, so I don't use hardware. You might be referring to a device or system you're interacting with.

I assumed you were wireless - if you are getting that slow on a wired connection then something is really wrong. What is your internet speed supposed to be? (i.e. what package are you supposed to be getting)
