I recently purchased this Asus Zephyrus G15 GA503 with an RTX 3070 and a Ryzen 9 5900HS, and it’s an excellent laptop overall. Still, I’ve noticed that during Minecraft sessions I’m receiving far fewer frames than expected for these specifications. My previous experience on a better desktop (i5 R9 290) was much smoother. I checked the Task Manager to see what the GPU was doing, and it was barely active at around 38%, which isn’t sufficient for optimal performance. I’ve connected the power adapter to provide maximum power, but it doesn’t seem to help. Anyone know what could be causing this issue or how to resolve it?

It might also stem from suboptimal tuning. I’m aware that certain titles perform worse in FPS compared to newer, tougher ones. For instance, Battlefield 4 lags at 70-80 FPS, whereas Battlefield 5 reaches 90-100 FPS. Even older releases like Battlefield Bad Company 2 maintain around 170 FPS.

What is the current frame rate you're experiencing? What is your render distance configuration? Are there any visual or shader modifications in use? In my understanding, the difference between 60fps and 180fps in Minecraft tends to be minimal and often depends on gameplay style.

Don't focus on GPU usage. Less intensive games won't make the GPU work at its best. This could be connected to Optimus. I own an Asus TUF Dash F15 FX516PR equipped with an i7 11375h and RTX 3070 85w. By turning on dGPU mode and using an external screen, I notice a significant boost in FPS. It's essentially the laptop version of a Mux Switch.

You're seeing around 30 to 50 frames per second in Minecraft under maximum settings and 48 chunks render distance. It looks like you should be achieving much higher performance with a 3070.

I think it comes from a dual channel in the factory.

I'll try it, but I'm puzzled as to why GPU usage would rise when the game is performing poorly.

It's important to verify frequently, as gaming laptops are often offered in 1x8gb or 1x16gb configurations, which may greatly affect performance.

I recently came across a claim about the product offering sizes of 1x8gb or 1x16gb, though I found that site to be less reliable.
