Hey everyone,
I’m having issues with this laptop. The games run smoothly for a while but then start to lag.
Any advice or help would be really appreciated.

It begins smoothly without any delay, but after some time it starts lagging, which might be due to thermal throttling. You might consider undervolting the CPU, though it's difficult to predict the outcome.

It could be due to heat buildup in the coolers or the mix of HDD and 8GB of RAM. Based on how long your laptop has been working, you might need to open it up for cleaning. If that doesn’t help, consider trying this alternative.

I adjusted the fan to maximum which resolved the problem, but the table continues to get hot. During gameplay in GTA V, the anti-aliasing remains very poor even after increasing settings in both NVIDIA and the game. Any advice would be appreciated. The game is now running smoothly.

To help stabilize it, try adding something to ease breathing. Regarding anti-aliasing, I have no idea. It could be the game or the driver changing the settings on the other side.

He mentions that if you don't have a laptop cooling pad, you can use four dice to raise the notebook.

not advised with hdd, a slip-up and boom there goes your data lol
look for a cardboard, cut some holes, put it under the laptop, it's the best "ghetto" cooling pad ever lol, about three layers should make it thick enough for ventilation

I've been using Star Citizen for several years now, and have had to implement various upgrades to keep up with the game's increasing demands and progress. I strongly suggest doubling your RAM, as some of my own instances ran with 10-11GB memory. It's also a good idea to switch to an SSD for added speed, reduced power consumption while traveling, protection against data corruption, and the fact that storage costs have dropped significantly. Get in on it!

If you're skilled with hardware, you might want to replace your CPU and GPU with a more reliable brand like TIM. This has consistently improved my laptop builds by about 5C or more.
