Laptop joins one network with a fixed IP address, and switches to a changing IP on other networks
It’s unclear if this works, but in short I need a fixed IP at home for my ongoing projects. I’ve updated my IP in the control panel to match what I set. If I join another network, like my college network, will it still attempt to obtain that IP or can I have automatic switching between dynamic and static addresses?
Formerly, there were programs you could purchase that performed this function; it's unclear if they worked with Windows 10. This resource might also be useful: https://www.onlinecomputertips.com/suppo...-same-time
You can assign a fixed IP address in Windows 10 while allowing DHCP to work for other devices connected to the router - https://pureinfotech.com/set-static-ip-a...indows-10/
Hey, seems like you didn’t catch the message clearly. Let me clarify.
Set up DHCP on your PC and adjust your router to give your device a fixed IP address.
