You're facing an issue with your laptop not recognizing the external monitor after upgrading from Windows 8.1 to 10. The display connector on the motherboard is damaged, and you can't replace it easily. The laptop lid has been removed completely. Have you considered checking for any hidden connections or trying a different power cycle? Also, ensure the HDMI cable is properly seated and that the FN+F5 or Windows button+P shortcut is functioning. If none of these work, contacting technical support for your specific model might be necessary. Let me know if you need further guidance!

Win plus p will open the selection menu. Choose what you want to show. If you had access to the bios, you should have changed the display type to external.
