When I put my laptop to sleep or wait for it to go to sleep, I sometimes come back to finding that I can't click one of my keys or my mouse to wake it up and that I have to click the power button to wake it. Everything saves when I boot it up again, my tabs, my windows etc... I don't have a relatively old old laptop I'd say it's a ASUS FX503.

It's completely fine. If you can wake it by clicking, it means it's not truly asleep but just turning off the screen to conserve energy. Instead of entering full power-saving mode (which requires pressing the power button), you can check and adjust settings in the Start/Control Panel/System and Security/Power Options menu.
