I connected the Hdd to a USB adapter and it functioned properly. However, on my second laptop, it emitted a persistent ticking sound accompanied by a red light flashing, followed by another attempt with a different laptop which resolved the issue. To troubleshoot further, I removed the USB hub—used for converting one USB port to five—but directly connected the Hdd to the laptop. It worked unexpectedly, suggesting the hub was blocking external drives despite its normal operation when used daily.

The USB hub is the main issue here. It might be because the hub isn’t sending enough power to the laptop models where the HDD isn’t functioning properly through it. Alternatively, some laptop models may not receive sufficient power from the hub to the HDD. It’s time to try a different hub, opt for a powered one, or connect the HDD directly to the laptop.
