I just assembled a new PC using the MSI z790i. Connecting my Ethernet from the office works, but not in the living room. Other devices connect fine there. When I plug the living room cable back in, it functions properly. I've tried removing and reinstalling the LAN drivers, but nothing helps. Could someone suggest replacing the Ethernet cable on the living room side? Thanks.

Running arp -a in the command prompt shows no active ARP entries. When your PC powers on over the Ethernet in the living room, the port lights up, flashes orange, and then turns off after startup.
The wires are heading in a specific direction—toward a switch or router. With just the cables, they can't link up anywhere.
Begin at the spot where it isn’t working. Check if the NIC LED lights up after connecting. Open cmd.exe via search and run ipconfig /all to see the IP address. Confirm whether it starts with 192 or 169.
192 indicates a working network connection. The main issue seems to be that it shuts down again. Since it functions in the office, it’s likely chipset drivers are installed. Are the Wi-Fi settings activated on this machine as well? Did you check the IP configuration after turning off the network interface?
