Recent clips show Left 4 Dead 2 servers being targeted by DDoS attacks, and laggy servers are also common lately. This usually occurs during versus mode, with videos documenting attacks from a few months back to the present. A few days ago, some players joined a match on versus and after about ten minutes the map started to lag, special infected began moving awkwardly, and they eventually disconnected due to server issues. Despite the game being nearly 16 years old, Left 4 Dead 2 servers remain unpredictable. How can we stop these attacks? Many others are facing the same problems.

The issue is really tough to handle. Blizzard faces constant DDoS attacks on their WoW and Overwatch servers. Even a huge company can't solve it, which is why they recently fixed some hardcore characters after attacks. This goes against what hardcore players believe.

It doesn't even resemble a DDoS attack, but honestly how often do online games get hit like this? Trust me, they definitely face it constantly if they weren't actively protecting themselves—it would be a constant 24/7 issue, right? After all, it's usually just an annoying expense for them.

Therefore the straightforward response is that you can only partially manage these situations—some actions are possible, but there’s no complete way to fully avoid them.
