I have a Lenovo "S145-15IIL Laptop (ideapad) - Type 81W8" (as shown when I visit the warranty page by logging into the Lenovo website). It features a 1TB SATA HDD and an empty PCIe slot. I’m curious about the compatible SSD type. Please note that according to page 54 of the provided [pdf](file:///C:/Users/crrma/OneDrive/Docs/Lenovo/S145/ideapad-s145-15iil-81w8.pdf), Model Name 15IIL matches Machine Type 81W8.

On the first page of this PDF (not on the Lenovo site), it states "512GB SSD M.2 2280 PCIe NVMe". This page includes the code "81W8" at the top.

On the second page of the same document, it lists options for "ideapad S145-15IIL Platform" (though this page lacks the 81W8 code).

Up to two drives are supported:
- HDD / SATA 6.0Gb/s, 2.5" wide, 7mm high, 5400rpm
- M.2 2242 SSD / PCIe NVMe, PCIe 3.0 x 2, 16Gb/s
- M.2 2280 SSD / PCIe NVMe, PCIe 3.0 x 4, 32Gb/s
- Intel Optane Memory H10 with Solid State Storage, M.2 2280, PCIe NVMe 3.0 x 4

In the hardware manual PDF (page 13), it mentions:
2.5-inch form factor, 7-mm (0.28-inch) height hard disk drive
• M.2 PCIe/SATA solid state drive
• 2.5-inch SATA solid state drive
• M.2 Intel® Optane™ memory (compatible with BS145-15IWL, S145-14IKB, S145-14IML, S145-14IWL, S145-15IKB, S145-15IML, S145-15IWL, S145-14IIL, and S145-15IIL models)

This information should help determine the best SSD choice for your device.

You've effectively addressed all M.2 connection options. The majority of drives are 2280 (80mm length), but they also accommodate shorter variants.
