my child is eager to play games on steam together, but locating suitable pre-teen friendly titles has turned out to be more difficult than expected. To the parents here, what games do you and your children like to enjoy? I understand that turning off all in-game voices is essential, and we need to disable chat functions completely. We’ve exhausted our Wii collection, which didn’t pose a problem with the games we owned. We’re looking for no explicit content, revealing clothing, suggestive humor, profanity, horror elements, graphic violence, or themes centered on death. It’s important to have the game’s AI reacting in a way that keeps things appropriate.

1. What is their age?
2. Are you interested in local multiplayer or games where your child can play alongside you, such as a single-player game at the same time?
Some local multiplayer options:
Overcooked
Lego Batman / Star Wars / all Lego games are classics
Singleplayer/online:
Stardew Valley
Fortnite
Minecraft
Terraria
(these can all include voice chat, except Fortnite where multiplayer with VC is only through Steam friends, and no public servers with VC)

Brothers: Tales of 2 Sons had a somewhat altered ending. Brawhalla is a straightforward yet challenging 2D fighting game, drawing inspiration from Nintendo Smash Bros. You might also find it suitable in the family-friendly section or through Steam curators. Check the links for more details: https://store.steampowered.com/tags/en/Family+Friendly and https://store.steampowered.com/curator/2...-the-Kids/

Portal and Portal 2 are generally suitable for children.
The aspects that could be off-putting to younger audiences are:
- Light violence (turrets can fire with sound effects)
- The game has been a while since I played, but it includes a lot of conversation. It doesn’t contain offensive language, though there’s a fair amount of sarcasm (possibly subtle hints).
The main emphasis is on solving puzzles, which can be enjoyed either solo or in multiplayer. It runs on any PC from the past eight years.
If you’re looking for a 2D platformer, I found Battleblock Theater appealing. It offers co-op play and single-player options.
There are some light cartoon violence elements and possibly some sarcasm or mild violence.
I also liked certain racing games, but those I’ve played are no longer accessible (such as Dirt 3 and Grid 2).
