You're considering buying a Windows key from Microsoft versus a third-party seller. Third-party sellers can vary in reliability, so it's best to research reputable platforms or compare prices before deciding.

I don't have access to your purchase history. Could you clarify whether you bought it online from Microsoft's site or in person from a store?

Consider purchasing one Windows Home (or Pro if needed) directly from Microsoft or through their authorized partners such as NewEgg, Canada Computers, or Memory Express. I prefer buying from Microsoft because it lets me receive the product via USB, providing a reliable backup for future reinstalls without needing to generate new USBs. (I already have my own installers, but having a physical key offers peace of mind.)

Activating retail keys in stores gives you the flexibility to use them across multiple systems throughout your life, as long as each key is tied to just one device at a time. This ensures a single key that lasts for years or until Microsoft stops supporting upgrades, allowing uninterrupted access to new Windows versions without additional costs.
