Keyboard linkage for Samsung Odyssey G5
Keyboard linkage for Samsung Odyssey G5
I recently purchased a Samsung Odyssey G5 34-inch model with a USB port. I tried linking the keyboard straight to the monitor, but it didn’t work. When connected via the laptop directly, it functioned properly. Is there a way to connect the keyboard directly to the monitor? I’m currently using an HDMI connection with my Dell XPS 13 7390.
If the monitor includes a USB hub, link the hub to the main port on the base unit and then attach the keyboard to it. Expecting data to travel through the monitor cable is unlikely; you need a direct USB connection. Many modern devices are “smart,” containing their own computers, which can prevent standard ports from connecting. You might still find a solution within the monitor’s settings.
It includes a service port (USB A), which suggests it has a hub. I’m still unsure about connecting it to my laptop, especially since this is my first time using an external monitor.
I have two Dell XPS 13 7390 laptops. You're looking for a smooth transition between them. Using the USB port on the G5 isn't feasible. Since one is connected via HDMI and the other via DisplayPort, a KVM switch could be useful to manage inputs and outputs seamlessly.
It seems costly. A more affordable option could be a USB hub, possibly with some foam tape for mounting.
