There seems to be an unusual issue with my keyboard. Sometimes it doesn't respond properly, like typing is impossible. Functions such as Esc, `, Tab, Caps, Shift, Ctrl (including Ctrl+key like Ctrl+S for saving) work perfectly fine. The numpad behaves the same way—numbers don't function, but controls (left, right, up, down) do. Whenever I switch to a different text field, it works again. I'm not sure why this happens, especially since I have many things running on my PC and can't restart it easily. It's not certain that this will stop anytime soon. Why do some keys work while others don't? What could be causing this? I checked for malware and found nothing. I tried reinstalling the keyboard driver, updating both drivers and Windows, but still nothing appears to be wrong. I also looked at recent posts for similar problems and thought it might be a Windows-related issue. I have all the latest updates installed.

Does the keyboard come with its own drivers? Which make and model is it? You’re not alone, I can help you find others like you. Check if the guidance here is useful: https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us...g-...5be29eaf9b Is this related to Chrome? https://forums. How often does it happen? You might attempt a clean boot and observe changes—follow the instructions carefully and avoid disabling any Microsoft services or Windows won’t load properly. https://support.microsoft.com/en-au/help...in-windows It doesn’t remove anything; it simply halts non-Microsoft programs that start with "start." It’s easy to reverse. If a clean boot resolves the issue, it suggests a startup program is involved. Over several restarts, try restarting the stopped programs to pinpoint the culprit.

Is the keyboard connected by wires? If not, the battery might be running low. What occurs when you disconnect and reconnect it? You can try using a different keyboard. Keyboards are physical mechanisms that have a limited lifespan. It may be worth considering a replacement.

I own a Corsair Straffe keyboard with USB, but I haven’t installed any software since the light patterns behaved strangely and the customizing tool wouldn’t let me adjust settings. If "your problem" occurs when I’m not at home, my wife would be confused because she uses a wheelchair and can’t reach the rear wires.

This is my solution... I’ve connected the USB cable to the front of my tower.
If the lights flash before I power on the PC, I unplug the cable and wait for the "no keyboard detected" message at the desktop before plugging it back in.
If the lights begin flashing while using the PC, I know I won’t be able to type and I close the system via the Windows icon—right-click the power button because a left click stopped working. Let the PC shut down and try... my fix...

I don’t understand why it happens, but at least I found a workaround.
This issue occurs occasionally, about once every few months.

I'm using Corsair iCUE, but this problem only appeared recently, around a week ago, and I believe it might be due to a Windows Update. Since it happens unpredictably, I tried unplugging the keyboard, but nothing changed except switching to a new text field. When I move from a web browser's address bar to a search field, control returns and all keys function normally. The keyboard works fine, and I have no issues overall, just occasional strange temperature-related glitches. It seems like a software issue at this point. I guess we should just wait and see...

You might want to reset the keyboard, as I've done before to fix the RGB issue.
Check for a conflict, which is why I recommended a clean boot.
It's possible Icue is handling it, so you could try enabling it.
Also, look into Windows Update to see if any drivers were updated recently.
The reliability history indicates any programs from the Windows store were updated during that period.
