Hello everyone, my desktop runs Windows 8.1 Pro with a standard product key. I recently acquired a genuine N-key from Microsoft’s software swap. I’m curious—would using that key make everything function properly, or should I consider a clean installation instead?

Are you referring to a generic key or a trial key? In my opinion, you can simply enter it and turn it on.

Not sure if its a trial key since there is no expiration... not sure what its called actually

It doesn’t feel like Microsoft is offering free access that can be used without limits. You might wonder why you’d bother with a genuine key when something seems to work perfectly?
