I bought two identical SKU 16GB units of Corsair Vengeance 3200/CL16 from Amazon a month apart. One came from SK Hynix while the other was from Samsung. The SK Hynix version only reached about 3200, whereas the Samsung model performed better at 3600. The SK Hynix kit didn’t fit well with my Ryzen 5 1600 at 3200—it capped around 2666. The Samsung kit worked fine at 3200 when using XMP settings. With Crucial, you’re consistently getting Micron chips because they’re a Micron brand.
Viper Steel from Patriot is built around Hynix CJR. I checked the Amazon reviews for the 3733mhz model and found 95% positive feedback, though a few outliers didn’t match the rated speeds. My 4000mhz unit runs at 3733 CL15 since it matches the 1:1 ratio with infinity fabric. Samsung B-Die handles their higher-end parts well. For instance, someone on TPU exceeded ratings on their faster units... https://www.techpowerup.com/forums/threa...sults-good.
Ty, I was thinking about Crucial until I noticed the deal on Corsair where you could buy it for 3600 instead of 3200 from Crucial. I don't think it really matters since the 5600g max is still 3200.
