I've installed some new upgrades on my PC. The CPU is an AMD/Ryzen 7 7800X3D (just bought), the motherboard is an MSI AM5 MAG B650 TOMAHAWK (new), the GPU is a Sapphire Pulse Radeon RX Vega 56 with 8GB HBM2 memory (from an old system), the power supply is a Corsair HX1200 (also from an old system), and I'm running Windows 11 Home, version 22621.2715. Recently, while gaming, after about an hour I noticed a grey screen with just sound. After a couple seconds it restarted. The only activity in the Windows Event Viewer was the Kernel Power event. I assumed the power supply might be failing. I ran some tests to confirm. CPU temperatures stayed below 70°C and GPU under 80°C throughout. Memtest passed, Prime95 ran for three hours fine, OCCT tests were stable for an hour each, and even at maximum usage for an hour, everything worked. Still confused. If the PSU couldn't provide enough power it would definitely fail during those tests. Also, crashes only happened in certain games like Detroit: Become Human and Desperados, but not in Warhammer II. I don’t have spare GPUs or PSUs to replace without buying them. I also updated the BIOS on the motherboard and the GPU drivers are up to date. Any suggestions? Thanks.
Drivers. Something is creating a conflict that hangs the system. If you didn’t reinstall windows when you swapped out the mobo and cpu, you should do that. If you did, run DDU in safe mode and reinstall the graphics drivers. Make sure all the latest drivers are installed for the motherboard. BIOS update also.
I performed a new setup after updating the components. I've already attempted to reinstall the drivers.
