MacBooks include SSH by default, and they also have a journaling system that prevents data loss and protects against crashes. Linux offers similar features, though most MacBooks don’t run Linux natively. There are fewer optimized Linux laptops available compared to Apple devices.

You can establish SSH with a single command. Regarding storage options, HFS may be preferable over ext4 or ZFS depending on your needs. If you must use Apple software, consider purchasing an expensive laptop, though there are more suitable alternatives available.

I'm working on an older MacBook Pro that's been around for over nine years. Please let me know when you have a Windows machine that can handle 1080p at 60 FPS without any frame drops, and one that receives the latest updates from Microsoft for better performance. I don't think Apple is exceptional outside of their phones, Mac Pros, and MacBook Pros—those other products aren't worth considering. Also, keep in mind different generations, like the upcoming Kaby Lake refresh, which may make newer models less appealing due to issues with DDR3 and battery life.

The open source option for comprehensive GUI scripting is something like Qt or Electron. For Cocoa APIs, Apple’s own frameworks remain the standard, though they can feel restrictive. Linux desktop environments are powerful but often come with clunky interfaces. It’s frustrating when you need to spend hours tweaking a system just to get basic tasks done. Why jump into someone else’s discussion when you could focus on your own project?
