You're right, saving on a live environment is tricky—it usually ends up failing. Also, downloading torrents from a live Linux drive doesn't make sense, and using Kali for that purpose isn't necessary.

Using a persistent data partition on the live USB allows you to store files. Standard creation tools usually include this feature.

He likely didn't do that since it wasn't referenced in the original post and qbittorrent will use $HOME/Download by default.

Linux offers solid protection on its own. You don’t have to fear malware spreading from questionable torrents. Avoid downloading illegal material. If authorities like the FBI decide to pursue you, they will eventually find you no matter your encryption or private networks.
