Hey there! I tried installing Kali Linux using a bootable USB made with Rufus. I used ISO mode and didn’t use DD. The PC started up and I created a partition in Live mode. When I reached the CD-ROM mounting step, I got an error saying it couldn’t detect or mount the disc. After disconnecting and reconnecting the USB, it worked. But later, when trying to find the CD-ROM again, it still failed. I’ve reinstalled some software and updated the ISO, but I’m not sure if that’s the issue. I don’t have a physical CD-ROM on my PC, so I’m pretty sure this is the problem. It’s really frustrating trying to fix this!

dd. Avoid installing Kali. It’s meant for use in a live environment. For a standard setup, consider installing a regular distro such as Ubuntu.

You're having trouble erasing your USB drive using dd cz because it doesn't belong to you. For Kali Linux, the right tools are different—use a recovery environment or a proper forensic utility. Remember, Ubuntu won't handle this type of operation.

Isn't it believed that ISO mode safeguards your information? It's not accurate. Yes, it does. Ubuntu offers the same capabilities as Kali, just with a few additional packages installed. The main distinction is that Kali runs in live mode, allowing you to use it on a pendrive. Which application from Kali isn't present on Ubuntu?

The USB content is no longer accessible after creation using DD mode. Modifying settings or copying firmware becomes difficult. Even if you can view the drive, the available space will be significantly smaller than the total size. For example, copying a 4GB image to a 16GB USB limits access to just 4GB instead of the full 16GB. Source: https://github.com/pbatard/rufus/issues/843

You seem to be asking if I'm not very familiar with something, which feels unusual, right?

I only like things when I understand them well, I can't tell if I like something if I can't use it properly, but maybe that's just me.
