i've been using kali for some time now. initially, i installed it in a virtual machine, but when i encountered issues with wireless tools like aircrack, it turned out i couldn't use my wireless card inside the VM. so i moved it to a partition on the physical drive of my pc. however, even in that setup, installing command files from sources such as github often resulted in failures. anyone have any suggestions or similar experiences? i'm mainly working with windows but recently started kali for my cybersecurity studies.

There was an issue. Could you try connecting to the repository servers again?

Update your repositories first and see if that resolves the problem. Also, note that a solid introduction to Linux (and Kali) comes with Ubuntu at the top, making it easy to find tools like air-crack. Since I have a clear idea of what you're aiming for with air-crack, here are some practice steps while you work on fixing the AndroidAP2.cap, AndroidAP3.cap, EasyBox-01.cap, easybox740739.cap, and KreidelmeyerHenke.cap.

I tried to figure out what was happening but it wasn't clear. It seems to be showing a cloned status but then failing to receive data.

I hope so because choosing another option is probably against the law, which is why you notice my phone, the router my parents use and their router above.

Also, the rockyou list isn't effective here. My 1080 ran through all of them without any success. Just a note: the standard password format for Android APs on the S7 is ?l?l?l?l?d?d?d. You're welcome to give it your best shot!

I'm still figuring out my career path. I originally wanted to become a network engineer, but then considered ethical hacking. It feels exciting at first, but I worry I might lose interest over time. Right now, I’m exploring different areas on my own and seeing what I enjoy. So far, I’ve only tried small projects using my own devices and networks.

I get it, I once went through something similar... Our school had to update some security settings on their computers and network. This discussion isn't about career advice, so I won’t share that. Just enjoy it if you can! There are many enjoyable activities beyond just accessing other people's Wi-Fi networks. If I were you, I’d begin with SQL injection and memory corruption—they’re flexible, engaging, and often overlooked. For the first, create a simple website using SQL with at least two tables (like publicTable and users) that includes a search feature. Try pulling data from another table to see what appears. For the second, play around with game-like memory attacks; by the end, you’ll discover many devices—including smart locks—that could be affected. If you find it tough because Assembly isn’t your strong suit, check out ShenzenIO on Steam; it’s excellent for learning Assembly. These approaches offer more practical value than basic WPA2 or MITM tactics, and they’re more rewarding since real-world impact is higher. There are also many people using WEP and WPS, so you’re not alone in this space.

Absolutely correct, thank you for your guidance. I'll check that game—it looks promising. By the way, are you currently pursuing an IT career?
