Hi
I’m looking to place PE foam under my PCB and next to the body. I’ve seen this in a graphic card box, but I’m unsure if it’s anti-static. Also, I want to apply it on the PCB near the switches, but I’m not sure it matches the previous foam’s anti-static properties. My monitor came with this foam too. Additionally, I’ll be lubricating my stock stabilizers and using a standard dielectric grease for the stabilizer wire in plastic components. I’m not sure if masking tape is necessary for the PCB back side. Should I use it? My main worry is the anti-static issue with the PE foam.

You may apply them together; just ensure you assess the area you have for placement. In reality, check and measure several times, then cut once if needed. Avoid using masking tape because paper tapes can cause a fire—this has occurred before according to www. If 3M Painter's tape is available, it’s acceptable. This guide also covers modding the keyboard; see https://youtu.be/qiGq39c1AvA for more options.

Thanks for the advice regarding the tape. I look into local markets to check availability. Concerning the PE foam, I read that white types lack anti-static properties, while pink or black ones are recommended. How can I confirm if my foam is anti-static? Is this really important or is it just a common misconception about PE foam on PCBs?

I omitted to note that my K552 is the Pro model, featuring wireless capability and an internal battery, making tape mod likely unsafe. Others warned it might pose a fire risk. Additionally, the 3mm PE foam under the PCB remains a concern.

Start by lubricating and observe the results. I successfully achieved the desired sound profile on my Keychron Q1v2 by switching to PBT keycaps.
