Just getting 100 mb/s from the network card on a Windows XP PC when using a Cat6 POE camera.
I only get 100 megabytes per second on my network adapter (Windows XP) with a CAT6 POE camera. My cables and connectors are all working okay. Is there a setting in the network adapter that I'm missing? We have several other cameras running at 1 gigabyte per second, but these two just slow down to 100 mb/s. Two network adapters should be enough, right?
I am confused about your post because maybe you have more than one machine or multiple NIC cards in just one computer? Or did you mean something else entirely? On the NIC, please make sure it is set to Auto for speed. Usually this problem comes from a cable issue, but when PoE is involved things get much harder. How are you getting the power to the cameras? Are you using some kind of power injector and do you know if it uses standard 802.3af/at PoE or if it's a proprietary type? Many of those passive injectors only work at 100 Mbps, so they can't pass data and power over the same wire pair at the same time. The 802.3af/at does carry both power and data, which means it can run at gigabit speeds. There are some proprietary systems that can also do 1 Gbps but things change a lot depending on the vendor.
