Here are some great JRPGs you might enjoy: Final Fantasy is a top choice, and Agarest is also worth checking out. There are many others beyond that, and most don’t need Steam access.

A short overview of the Moon Short—this 4-hour indie title delivers an emotional story that can move you to tears. A nostalgic nod to classic JRPGs such as the original Final Fantasy. One Way Heroics offers a fun experience you can finish quickly, yet still enjoy multiple playthroughs for better satisfaction. Recettear focuses on managing an item shop to settle debts to a fairy, adding dungeon crawling elements; it's worth purchasing. The Ys Series hasn't been tried yet (due to questionable Steam deals), but it appears to be a well-reviewed JRPG lineup. Valkyria Chronicles stands out as a distinctive AAA title. Don’t shy away from its console release—it’s polished and impressive. I strongly suggest all the other titles on this list except Ys, as I haven’t played them yet.

Great! I'll make sure to purchase everything. You're right about how they work.

They all had their moments, but Ys stood out. Watching To the Moon moved me deeply and I often buy it during sales. Last Dream met my expectations for a solid Final Fantasy experience. It's an RPG Maker with a strong system—hard to sum up in a few words. Check out a video of it; I really enjoy it. Recettear was a favorite because it was so enjoyable. Valkyria Chronicles blended turn-based and real-time gameplay well, and the story was engaging. If you like anime, the Valkyria Chronicles series is worth checking out.
