I recently set up a new computer and started installing Minecraft and OptiFine. I realized I should probably add Java to the system. After attempting to do so, I encountered a confusing error message: "An error has occurred in the script on this page. Line: 1 Char: 1 Error: Expected ')' Code:0 URL: (nothing here) Do you want to continue running scripts on this page."

I looked into possible reasons for the issue:
- My computer account name doesn’t contain special characters.
- Java isn’t installed yet.
- I tried the offline version.
- Moved a folder with Java to the new system.
- Used a non-32-bit version.
- Ran through admin in CMD.
- Disabled third-party extensions and the firewall.

The download would start but close immediately or after a second. I’m unsure what else to do and would appreciate any guidance!

EDIT: My account is an admin, but switching to a different admin made it work. When I returned to my main account, it seemed to disappear.

I believe Minecraft includes its own Java, but I'm not sure where you were getting it from.
