Hello!
I've been using Windows 10 for 2-3 years and haven't upgraded from Windows 7. I'm not sure if Java was installed during the upgrade. I downloaded it now but when I tried to run the .exe, I got a message saying it might change my computer and nothing happened. I've checked all the files. Is Java being removed like Adobe Flash? What could be causing this issue? Are there any settings in Windows 10 that might be responsible?

For Java?
Verify the installation prerequisites: operating system, hardware, etc.
Consider trying a different download—perhaps the original file or installation attempt was damaged.
If the problem persists, check the Reliability History and Event Viewer for any error codes, warnings, or notes.
Begin with the Reliability History; it’s more intuitive and the timeline view might help.
Also review the Update History, as relevant entries could exist there.

I've tested all possible installation files available. There are no errors or messages, but my computer doesn't respond. When I click the .exe icon, a Microsoft window appears warning me that this program might affect my PC. I agree, then nothing happens. After a moment, the cursor shows it's working (hourglass icon), but then nothing occurs.

I've looked into the Reliability History and Event Viewer, but found no java reference there. Thank you!

Check for records matching the dates and times you tried to set up Java.
Which installation method are you employing?
For instance:
https://phoenixnap.com/kb/install-java-windows

I saved jreblahblah.exe from java.com and other similar files from that site. Could other programs or games have triggered this? Also, did Java come with Windows updates and change over time?

What is "jreblahblah.exe"? When I searched for the mentioned .exe, I found only a few results, including a forum post and a Java download page. Maybe the relevant site is at https://forum.ragezone.com/f695/guide-in...er-756249/. Also: are you using Linux?

yeah, you are WASTING your time, you should get and use this. I believe Oracle made a mess with licensing the old java stuff.... use OpenJava instead, all our apps written for Java
run perfectly on it.
OpenJDK (java.net)
you can also look for the installer log file
JavaDeployReg.log found under the temp directory for your user. if there is an install issue it should be listed there
post a link to it so we can read it and find out what's going on

Hey everyone, thanks for your patience while helping! The issue has been resolved. I created a basic format on my computer and everything is now working properly. Before that, I had too many programs installed and uninstalled, played many games, and adjusted my OS settings extensively over the past 2-3 years. I think this was likely the main reason preventing me from running a Java installation. Figuring out which program or configuration was causing the problem felt like searching for fleas in straw. Thanks again! This question seems to be fully resolved now.
