I recently assembled a brand new computer for a friend, but it frequently crashes during gameplay and sometimes displays a blue screen. I’m using the latest Windows 10 64-bit version along with the BIOS that came with the motherboard—no update was necessary after the upgrade. Here are the specifications: GPU: Gigabyte 3060ti Gaming OC CPU: Ryzen 5600x RAM: Corsair Vengeance LPX 3200mhz CL16 2x8g kit Power Supply: MSI MAG A-BN 650w Motherboard: Tuf B550m-plus Wi-Fi II Case: CoolerMaster MB320l Storage: Kinston A2000 500gb NVMe SSD Seagate Barracuda 2TB HDD CPU Cooler: DeepCool AK620 We’ve tried almost everything we knew. Initially, we suspected a Steam issue, so we reinstalled Steam multiple times and reverted games that were failing. We ran MemTest on one RAM stick with no errors, though removing the other stick required taking down the CPU cooler. We attempted driver reinstallation via ddu, which briefly resolved the problem after about an hour of use. Temperatures were normal. Later, we suspected a GPU fault, so we swapped PCI cables and reinserted the graphics card. After that change, it worked well for around five hours without crashes. We then installed the friend’s GPU in our system—it performed perfectly for over an hour with no issues. Eventually, we returned his GPU to his original setup, which also ran smoothly for over an hour without crashes during gameplay. Now we’re unsure what to do next.

There are signs of a performance issue, possibly from corrupted data causing crashes. Check your RAM for problems as well.

The random behavior leads me to think about RAM versus CPU. If RAM requires XMP support, disable it and check if the issue resolves. Also, if the CPU has been overclocked (including PBO), turn it off.

You can check the second RAM stick without removing it from the motherboard because you don’t need to take it out easily.

Have you installed all the drivers for your motherboard with Armory Crate? It looks like you haven't mentioned it in what you've tried, so a driver update might help. TUF GAMING B550M-PLUS WIFI II Motherboards ASUS USA

I would take apart the device and remove the opposite bank. It makes no sense to skip checking the accessible bank. You might also try verifying a RAM module you could pull from another system, especially if it matches your motherboard. (Remember, each bank must be tested individually—you can't skip any.) What does the syslog report during crashes? I’m thinking CPU or HDD failure based on the error patterns and how unpredictable the failures seem.

We have a solid foundation now. We should focus on two key areas: first, understand the message displayed during Inscryption.exe crashes, and second, examine the hardware warnings that appear before and after those crashes.

When Inscryption crashed, it either stopped working completely or didn’t show any error. A Windows scan revealed some damaged files. Sometimes it claimed the issues were gone, other times it said they weren’t removable. After another check, no corrupt files remained, but they reappeared after a restart. I’ll run MemTest now and let you know the result.

When Inscryption crashed, it either stopped working completely or didn’t show any error. A Windows scan revealed some damaged files. We disabled XMP and the issue appears resolved so far. Multiple restarts didn’t cause any crashes yet.

I haven’t tested this on Zen 3 myself, though I recall you can boost the FCLK even with lower RAM speeds, which could help restore some performance. Feel free for those more experienced with AMD systems to share their thoughts. You might consider re-enabling XMP but reducing the frequency slightly—perhaps around 2933—to shift toward stability. Alternatively, try stabilizing at 3200; I’m not sure what voltage adjustment would be needed.
