During the upgrade to AM5, I'm still struggling to get the PC to even start up. Now that I'm at this stage, replacing the CPU seems like the only option left. Before jumping into a return or repair, let's review my troubleshooting process carefully. Here are the actions I've taken: updated BIOS to the latest version, reset CMOS, tested various RAM setups (including checking Q-LED indicators), tried booting without a video card or with it connected directly, attempted different PCI-E slots for the GPU, replaced the motherboard, swapped RAM kits, and even checked for bent pins or damaged pads. Nothing worked. I've gone through nearly every basic step and pushed a bit further. If this isn't enough, could there be something else I overlooked before proceeding with an RMA?
Start with just the motherboard, CPU, cooler, RAM, and PSU. Leave out all other components. If it doesn’t work, test each part individually in a working system one at a time. When you manage to boot, add the GPU. Repeat the process: install SSD, try booting, then Windows. Keep going until successful. Good luck!
I should've included that in my steps—I've already attempted to boot using just the CPU, RAM, power supply, and cooler. Unfortunately, I don't have another AM5 board to test the CPU or RAM. However, I'm sure the PSU is working perfectly on another machine. I also ran this setup with a different RAM configuration, and it showed the same issue.
There might be at least one faulty part in the CPU, motherboard or RAM. It could be wise to reach out to the makers for compatible options. AM5 can sometimes be tricky, but there’s definitely a method to build an AM4 system. A last-minute thought: you’ve been waiting long enough for memory training before concluding there’s nothing left. For example, give yourself at least 15 minutes to be sure.
You definitely need to get the motherboard up and running. It might be wise to use a budget Ryzen 7600 CPU to confirm everything works properly.
You started up without any space on your drive. A faulty hard drive caused the issue. If you haven't tried that, maybe check something else first.
