Checked out Linus's latest video and chose to run Ubuntu alongside it. The login screen is giving me trouble—can't seem to get past it. Any tips? It starts up fine, but after entering the password it resets everything to show the user selection again.

Typically the problem stems from the GPU driver. Have you installed Nvidia's custom driver?

Have you attempted a restart? I just set up Ubuntu and it seemed to behave oddly when switching users. A reboot might resolve the issue.

Did you allow the installer to download and apply updates? If not, it’s probably just a GNOME issue—something that occurred to me too—and can be resolved by installing updates. Usually you press ctrl+alt+F2 or ctrl+alt+F1 to enter the text console, log in and run "sudo apt update", "sudo apt -y dist-upgrade" and then "sudo reboot". This refreshes everything and should fix the problem.

The issue involves a problem in version 20.04 where GNOME often crashes during the first boot if no updates are present.

Also, I'm completely new to Linux, so I don't really understand what I'm doing. I followed your instructions, and everything seemed fine until the Ubuntu desktop appeared unexpectedly in the command prompt. Now my screen is black.

I finished it, though the issue persists.

I thought it typically occurs when you set up NuVue prior to upgrading to the newest release.
