I'm facing an issue with my single-core performance. I chose to turn off the SMT auto setting. My goal is a steady frame rate and reduced stutter. So far, I've managed to improve it from 12 to 6 cores. Games run better with more CPU usage, but it's using more power than before. I plan to keep this up until the next upgrade to 3600, which I've mentioned multiple times. Is it acceptable to disable SMT? (I mainly use it for gaming.)

The utilization is greater, but the numbers are still the same. Turning off SMT reduces threads, which means if you're checking CPU usage as a percentage, it will appear higher. Disabling SMT doesn't boost performance simply because the percentage is up.

I noticed CPU usage increased significantly, which helped the game run better. Previously, it was around 110-150, now it's 150-180. Unclear why, or should I consider getting my 12-core processor back?

For optimal performance, consider using the Ryzen 5 3600 at 3200MHz. I'm still puzzled as to why your game didn't run smoothly.

It might have been limited by the CPU's maximum speed. Checked thermal settings. Rainbow Six Siege performance improves with more cores, reaching around 16, making 12 threads beneficial. Consider software problems before purchasing a new CPU.

Software problems? In the last discussion, my Ryzen isn't ideal for gaming. The CPU speed was limited to 3.8 because of heat. AMD thermal performance isn't great for high-end gaming (70+) with full load. Still, I'm not sure why my in-game FPS stays steady without using smt.

Did you verify your CPU speed without SMT? If temperatures were affecting performance, you should confirm your cooler was installed properly. Still, a 3.8 all-core rating isn’t necessarily a sign of poor performance.

From what I notice on YouTube, thermal only reaches 50+ and then boosts to 3.7 naturally without any adjustments. It might be that my temperature setting is the issue.

I'll verify that, though the 3.8 result isn't from a gaming scenario. Since I run all my usage at full capacity for that test.

When temperatures are a concern, ensure the cooler operates at the optimal setting.
