Intel introduced Skylake at a 14nm size, later followed by Kaby Lake (7th Gen) with a modest performance increase. AMD unveiled Ryzen, a mid-to-high range processor, available in quad, hexa, and octa core configurations (rumors). It’s expected to launch by the end of February. Nvidia brought Pascal along with the GTX 1000 series. The GTX 1080 and 1070 dominate consumer GPU performance, while the updated Titan X is available for those who want it. 1080 Ti is anticipated soon (rumors). AMD also launched Polaris, targeting a lower to mid-range architecture. The upcoming RX series (460, 470, 480) aims to challenge the GTX lineup (1050, 1050 Ti, 1060 3/6G). They’re also rolling out a new high-end Vega architecture. Intel released the 6950X, and notable purchases include ten individuals and a Saudi prince. 10C/20T with an extraordinary price tag are now in the spotlight.

Windows remains imperfect yet the new CEO of Microsoft impresses more than before. Steam OS stays reliable with a solid collection of budget games. Quake continues to fade but we keep playing it, just like Left for Dead. Minecraft appeals mainly to younger players, while Rocket League dominates among kids. High-end hardware is dominated by Intel and NVIDIA, with most others exiting the mechanical hard drive space except for costly enterprise options. SSDs are now common and affordable. CSGO can run in high detail on an Intel laptop without a dedicated GPU. AMD still lags in gaming, though newer RX 480 cards offer better value for budget builds under the GTX 1070. AMD CPUs have seen little change over five years. Donald Trump is the U.S. president, and rising Chinese investment keeps property prices high. What more would you like to know?

They only purchase top quality and still end up feeling let down.

Even with a lottery win and the ability to build your dream, I wouldn't choose the 6950x. It feels like a waste of money. I understand the idea of overkill, but this model just seems too basic.
