It's running slow on your RX590.
Hey, I'm facing some issues with GTA V. It seems like the game doesn't respond well to high settings—often around 24-30 FPS. I've checked the AMD settings but everything is left at default. If I push it higher, performance drops to about 80 FPS or less. I'm wondering if this is normal for an older system. My specs are: RX 590 Nitro+, 8GB RAM, Ryzen 5 2400G, and a mix of SSD and HDD (7200 RPM). The game is installed on the HDD. I've attached some screenshots of the AMD settings for reference. Let me know what you think!
Drivers will run at SUPERSAMPLING, but this setting isn't set by default anymore—it's been updated. When you maxed it, it uses 8x AA; however, your native resolution still shows 8x SuperSampling. That’s why you’re seeing low performance. Fix this if that’s correct. Adjust the driver AA to switch to MSAA instead. In-game enable MSAA at 2x, 4x, or off. Also lower Ultra/VeryHighGRASS by one level from its max; it improves visibility in city areas since grass shadows and occlusions aren’t optimized there.
Multisampling is essentially MSAA, which is significantly cheaper for the GPU compared to SuperSampling. It would have been the default setting originally. *However, only when the game explicitly supports it, as shown in the image above... but earlier,... when MSAA was enabled, the driver changed it to SSAA instead of MSAA according to your earlier choice.* MSAA generally runs faster than SSAA in most or all games (though this depends on its configuration).
I believe I followed all your instructions, but I’m still seeing 40-50 fps in-game.
