Getting a touch frustrated. The ASUS ROG Strix Z790-F WIFI hasn’t been available in the US since November. Checking worldwide shows it’s usually in stock elsewhere. It was expected back on February 13, but now it’s been over two weeks and still out of stock. Why?
Maybe the price is too high for a Z790 and international buyers avoid it since we prefer not to lose money. Probably just a joke. It could also be limited supply making it hard to get into the US.
Consider the impact of China-related trade restrictions on the current scenario. Although the United States imposes such a ban, nations outside the U.S. are not affected. https://www.newegg.com/p/pl?d=ASUS+ROG+S...790-F+WIFI
Could be but I just checked Canada and UK ASUS stores as well and they are also out to stock, this is a new hot product so you'd think they would be trying to replace the stock with priority. Also the major resellers like B&H Photo and Newegg were originally saying they would have it back in stock 13 Feb. SO I reached out to the ASUS US/Canada Online Store directly to find out when they might have it back in stock. They said they have no record of any pending delivery on the product, I'm beginning to think something else is going on. Like could they have uncovered a design flaw and don't want to do a mass recall on a defective design, e.g. known issues with the onboard Intel NIC or USBC circuit.
I observed that most ASUS ROG Strix z790 based models appear to be unavailable or nearly sold out. When I inquired with major retailers about its delayed release despite the expected date of 13 February, they simply stated that ASUS hasn’t shared an estimated timeline yet. I regret not receiving clearer updates on this situation. Something is definitely changing.
I don't really want an Asus motherboard, but I understand your point. Why not choose another one? You can easily find alternatives without needing a third-party seller. NewEgg has a good selection, and the -E version is available now. Plus, it might have a better power design.
The Z790-E retails for $499. On Newegg they list only four units available. While many sites have issues with returned items, Newegg seems to maintain a limited selection in North America—possibly because of its resale reputation. From my perspective, if it’s that priced, the Z790-E is likely the only one left there. The F variant at $419 is the highest I’m willing to pay, but I was aiming under $400. The Z790-F fits all my requirements, so the extra $20 feels reasonable. I’ve also heard some forum discussions suggesting the E model has notable problems, which makes me hesitant about spending more than $400. I’m sticking with the $499 target since it meets most of my needs. My current build includes an ASUS Crosshair V Formula-z with 32GB, an FX8350 black edition, and I’ve played God of War recently. This setup is nearing its end-of-life; I’ve extracted everything possible but Microsoft’s reduced support for this CPU model makes it time to upgrade. My essentials remain the GTX 1070, Creative 7.1 speakers, and a LG 24GM77 monitor—anything under $350 for me is acceptable. I’m confident in ASUS now, just need a board that fits my setup. I’ve been assembling PCs since the early 486s. Back then I played CS on a slow modem during its beta phase, and availability was a real challenge. It’s odd when ASUS doesn’t announce stock dates, and it’s even more perplexing when they don’t update their listings. I already own several components in my office: an Intel i5 13600K with Mx-4 paste, Corsair 32GB DDR5 5600 kit, a Corsair RM850 power supply, Thermalright 120 SE, a CPU fan, a 1700 CPU bracket, two LG 24GM77 monitors (2015 models), and Creative 7.1 speakers from around 2015. I’m waiting to see which GPU I’ll get before moving up. I’m considering an ASUS ROG Strix GTX 1070 OC, hoping to find a NVIDIA 30xx or 40xx chip under $300 with good memory support. My goal is to avoid spending over $600 on something that’s not worth the investment.
I'm thinking about this mini-board... The -F version is available again—did you locate a copy?
